eBIZ

In today’s complex and fast-changing trade/economic environment, the fashion industry requires fast time-to-market reaction.
Standards and agreed reference architectures allow suppliers, manufacturers and retailers to digitally connect their businesses (e-Business) within the value chain. Despite lot of initiatives in the fashion industry, standardisation and widespread adoption by users is still lacking…

The eBIZ project (full name: eBIZ-TCF) is a 2-year cooperation project launched in January 2008 by the European Commission and coordinated by EURATEX to boost e-Business processes in the Textile/Clothing and Footwear (TCF) Industries.
Accomplished in 2010, eBIZ worked with 17 pilots and over 150 companies across Europe and it proved the benefits of interoperability and digital communication in the supply-chain, particularly in terms of costs reduction, improving efficiency, facilitating new services and reducing the time-to-market for fashion goods.

Among its key results the initiative has delivered the eBIZ Reference Architecture for e-Business in the fashion industry.

In January 2012 EURATEX and CEN announces the CEN eBIZ Workshop, an open initiative to take the eBIZ results one step further, towards a single (harmonised) electronic language, even more widely adopted by the Fashion industry.

The Workshop lasts 18 months and provides the opportunity for interested stakeholders (Fashion companies, ICT companies serving the sector and Fashion retailers) to work together identifying gaps, needs and solutions for wider e-Business adoption.

Ultimately the initiative is expected to help SMEs, as well as large companies in the sector to innovate and improve their communications with both suppliers and clients.
Chaired by the EURATEX Director General  Mr. Francesco Marchi the Workshop kick-off meeting takes place for registered participants on 29th March in Brussels.
How to participate:
