Explanation note to member associations and their members
As part of EURATEX ongoing campaign to raise awareness in industry of its duties under REACH, we would like to draw your attention to the upcoming deadline of 30 November 2009 applicable to Downstream Users of chemicals under REACH. By this date users of chemicals should have informed their suppliers about the uses that the users would like to see covered in the relevant registrations. This deadline applies to chemical substances that need to be registered by 30 November 2010 by their manufacturers or importers (laid down in art. 37(3) paragraph 2 of the REACH Regulation). Failure to inform a supplier by the deadline could mean that the downstream user must perform his own safety analysis under REACH.We invite you to makesure that appropriate action is being taken on the subject in your Association if not done already.
