Project Summary
Integration of 3D Body Measurement, Advanced CAD, and E-Commerce Technologies in the European Fashion Industry
(Virtual Retailing of Made-to-Measure Garments, European Sizing Information Infrastructure)

Objectives
E-TAILOR aims to develop advanced infrastructures, which will establish a new paradigm for Virtual retailing services of customised clothing (AL II.3.3- personalisation of goods and services, AL IV.4.1 real-time clothing simulation and visualisation)
E-TAILOR is a proposal for a Combined Action (focus on R&D) aiming to develop:
· an European Sizing Infrastructure, that will contribute to the solution of the sizing problem
· an advanced Customised Clothing Infrastructure, enabling the production and distribution of custom-made garments at reasonable prices, in short time and with a close to perfect fit
· an innovative Virtual Shopping Infrastructure, enabling customers to visualise themselves wearing clothes on offer at e-kiosks and Internet shops
· generic body representations and standards Smartcard applications, securing data privacy
State-of-the-art systems will be integrated in demonstrators (reference for R&D)

Description of the work
The Workplan serves the objectives of a large-scale project, involving the development of complete infrastructures, based on multiple technologies (E-commerce, 3D scanners, CAD, real – time simulation, smartcards). The project is therefore split into three sub-projects (European Sizing Information Infrastructure, Customised Clothing Infrastructure, Virtual Shopping Infrastructure).

During the first phase the overall Business Framework will be set (market analysis, service scenarios, cost analysis, process modelling, consensus on industrial requirements, impacts and data privacy issues). Functional and outline technical specifications for the three sub-projects will be merged in a consolidated General Specification Document (GSD)

During the second Phase, the three sub-projects will run in parallel complemented by additional work, related to the development of standards for body data representations system independent measurement software and an Infrastructure for Customer Data Collection and Handling (multi-application, interoperable smartcards).

During the third Phase, the developed systems and standards will be integrated in prototype installations in various configurations, they will be tested and evaluated.

Dissemination will be effected trough User Groups Core Group, External Group). Exploitation plans for developed S/W systems will be based on Detailed IPR agreements, elaborated in careful steps, in view of the involvement of many interested parties.

The Workplan for the Demonstrators forms a separate entity, however the Demonstrators represent an integral part of the project, serving both as reference and as integration platforms.
